Important Stages In Wine Making

Wine is a favourite drink for many people and creating wine is not only an art but also a science. This is a natural process that will require some support from the humans too. There are many processes that can be used in order to create wine and each of it will give a minor change in the taste of wine. But whatever the process might be it will be using five basic steps, and they as follows.

· Harvesting the fruit
· Crushing it
· Allowing fermentation to happen
· Clarification
· Aging

When all these processes are completed, the bottling will be done. Small deviations in these steps will make the wine differ from one brand to another. In fact, there are many innovations done in this process in the recent times. Some highlights about the basic steps involved in the wine making process are listed below in a detailed manner.

The first work that has to be done here is harvesting the necessary grapefruits as the fruits will have the essential acids, tannins, and esters that will be very handy in the natural preparation of wine. This work can be handled manually or using mechanical techniques. The quality of fruits and balance in the taste plays a vital role in the deliciousness of wine. Once the harvesting is done, it is essential to press and crush the grapes to bring the juice out of them. Before starting this process, de-stemming is a must. Earlier, the stomping of the fruit was done with men and women after cleaning their feet, but now this work is also handled mechanically as it has a lot of sanitary gains. This will maintain the wine quality too.

Once the juice is out, fermentation will happen and it will take time around 6 – 12 hours if it is done naturally. According to the taste that is required, the fermentation time will vary from hours to months. Most of the companies use artificial yeast to speed up the fermentation process. Next, clarification happens, which is nothing but filtering the pure wine from solids, proteins, dead yeast cells, and so on. Usually, the liquid will be kept in stainless steel or oak barrels during this step. The final stage is aging and bottling. According to the requirement of the customers, the bottling will be done according to the aging of wine. It is believed that wine that has aged for a longer time is tastier.
